It happened in my neighbourhood in Kuala Lumpur a few days ago when a mango tree fell down due to strong wind and heavy rain and blocked the road near my house. The neighbours helped to clear the road and DBKL (City Hall) came to help. The rubbish was supposed to be collected by the rubbish collecting contractor hired by City Hall. Its the bad atitude that people have that dirties the place. This picture was take a couple of months ago at a flat belonging to Kuala Lumpur City Hall rented to people at a very cheap price of about RM 124.00 a month (USD 1.00 = RM 3.75 now), 3 small rooms with toilet facilities, bathroom, kitchen and lifts. 13 storeys I think. Someone must have an ejoyable picnic in a public park at the weekend. But the rubbish, shameful - just thrown about. The public park is not so well looked after anyway, a casuarina tree fell in the lake and not removed and the notice board vandalised and not repaired. A typical scene of couldn't careless attitude. Throwing paper and tissue (and sometimes rubbish) out of your car. Why can't they bring an empty plastic bag, and throw all their rubbish into that plastic bag and bring the rubbish home or to the nearest rubbish bin? Why can't the Municipal Council provides a proper rubbish bin? The rubbish had been dumped there not only now but for ages, and the funny thing is that the Municipal Council contractor's lorries collect these rubbish periodically - weekly I think. Meanwhile flies breed. Do we really care?
