There is still hope.......................!
Yesterday I was pretty annoyed with the state of being in Kuantan Town (Malaysia) (http://uglysyde.blogspot.com/2006/08/you-dont-want-to-but.html) but this morning I took a different route for my morning walk.
The surau (small masjid) on the fringe of the town is neglected but at least it got a sign board.
The big drain behind the town is overgrown, grass seems never cut but the big water pipes are still intact and frsh treated water still flows well into the town.
The other side of the big drain, overgrown but water still flowing in the drain towards the sea. In fact one can see fishes in the not so clear drain water. And at high tide this drain holds the tide water from the sea, preventing flooding of the surrounding areas.
Abandoned houses, but one can still see signs of activities nearby. All is not totally lost.
And a quaint little street hidden from view, at the back of the town. Old houses still well maintained (you can see someone sweeping in front of a house) and certain houses have been renovated, someone building big bunglow houses where some old terrace houses used to stand.
Do we really care? I suppose we do some time.
